LI ICMH Congress in Brazil
Dr. Harold Raugh, the President of the International Commission of Military History (ICMH), is pleased and proud to announce that the ICMH will hold its LI Congress in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil, 23-28 August 2026. Hosted by the Brazilian Institute of Military Geography and History (IGHMB) – the Brazilian Commission of Military History (CBHM) – the event marks the IGHMB’s 90th anniversary. Foz do Iguaçu, at the triple border of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, offers exceptional facilities and symbolizes harmonious cross-border coexistence.
The Central Theme of the Congress is “Borders: Integration and Harmony versus Separation and Conflict.”
Papers are invited on:
• Nation-state formation and territorial delimitations.
• Borders as physical, political, cultural, and economic spaces; cooperation mechanisms (e.g., NATO, OSCE); migration and transnational threats.
• Peacekeeping missions (UN DPKO and others).
• Geopolitical studies, including indigenous spaces and climate impacts.
• Border wars across continents.
• Military-tourist routes and historical sites.
Submissions must remain free of ideological biases.
