Winner of the 2026 Fellowship for Research Projects on Military History
The International Commission of Military History is pleased to announce that Dr. Arka Chowdhuiry has been selected as the winner of the ICMH Fellowship for Research Projects on Military History 2026.
Dr. Chowdhuiry received the Fellowship for the outstanding submission and work‑in‑progress, “Fighting Without Manuals: Print Culture and Informal Knowledge Networks in the British–Indian Army, 1860–1900.” In a highly competitive field, the jury judged the proposal to be the best entry, taking into account its significance for military history, the quality of writing and presentation, and the depth of research and use of sources.
The ICMH Fellowship for Research Projects on Military History is awarded annually to support research projects in military history and recognizes work of exceptional scholarly promise. This selection reflects the Commission’s continued commitment to fostering rigorous, original research in the field.
