The ICMH President de Leonardis awarded in Bulgaria
After a procedure initiated in 2018 by Prof. Kiril Plamen Kartaloff, PhD, a Bulgarian scholar which studied at the Catholic University in Milan, on Tuesday 21st May in Sofia, the President of ICMH Prof. Massimo de Leonardis was awarded by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences the “Marin Drinov Medal with ribbon”. It draws its name from the historian who founded the Academy 150 years ago.
It is the highest distinction awarded by the Academy, and Prof. de Leonardis is the second Italian to receive it, the previous one being a mathematician some decades ago. The ceremony was attended by various personalities, including the current and the past President of the Academy, H. E. Stefano Baldi, Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria, the Commandant of the “G. S. Rakovski” National Defence College Major General Dr. Grudi Angelov, Col. Prof. Dimitar Minchev, President of the BCMH, Mr. Ivo Antonov and other high ranking officials of the Ministry of Defence, and the esteemed historian Prof. Georgi Markov.
In the evening Prof. de Leonardis was also awarded the “Decoration of Honour 1st rank” of the Ministry of Defence.

The President took the opportunity of his visit to review the preparations for the ICMH Congress next August.
