Please find attached the quarterly update, dated 1 January 2021, of the ICMH Forthcoming Military History Conference listing. The purpose of this listing is to provide you with information on future international conferences for your consideration of attendance, to help share military history techniques, methodologies, and best practices.

Please note the current coronavirus pandemic has caused the cancellation of numerous events and activities, including military history conferences. Those conferences known to have been canceled or rearranged have been highlighted in “blue” on the attached list. Please check with the respective conference organizers to ensure any conference you may be interested in attending is still going to be held.

The XLVI ICMH Congress in Athens

The XLVI Congress of the International Commission of Military History will be held in Athens, from 29th August to 3rd September 2021, organized by the Hellenic Commission of Military History. The General theme of the Congress will be “Independence Wars since the XVIII Century”. Here is the letter of invitation from Major General Georgios Rachmanidis, President of the Hellenic Commission of Military History.

New appointment and vademecum

Secretary-General of the International Commission of Military History, Professor Kris Quanten, has been appointed to the rank of Colonel. Accordingly, the Vademecum has been updated. You can download it here.

Call for Papers, Italian Air Force

On the occasion of the centenary of the establishment of the Royal Italian Air Force as an independent Armed Force on March 28th 1923, the Italian Air Force General Staff intends to take an initiative to publish a series of historical works analyzing the main events which have had an impact on the Royal Italian Air Force and the Italian Air Force over these hundred years, both in relation to Italy's national history and the global evolution of military aviation.

Upcoming event: exhibition on Special Forces/Special Operations. You can find as attachment some information in French. The exhibition will be displayed at the French National Military Museum - Les Invalides in Paris Sept - Dec 2022.  Information and materials will be presented from several countries.
